Goodbye Stuff, Hello Life (Maybe?)
August 17, 2025
Have you ever thought of selling everything and taking flight?
I’ve heard people wanting to “start over”, but I don’t want to start over, I’ve come a long fucking way!! This is the ending of a very long chapter in my life, and I’m excited for the next.
By December 1st, my four-bedroom house and garage will be emptier than a Blockbuster on a Friday night in 2007. That’s right, I’m officially downsizing, selling, donating, or just straight-up kicking out most of my belongings. Why? Because life’s too short to be chained to a storage unit’s worth of “just in case” crap.
Here’s the plan:
I’m giving myself 90 days to unload the stuff. Yard sales, marketplace listings, curb alerts—you name it. If it’s not nailed down (and even some of the nailed-down stuff), it’s probably going.
After the purge, I’ll stay with my mom for a week, take deep breaths and chill.
Then? A weeklong cruise to the Bahamas with said Mom. Sun, rum drinks, and zero boxes to pack.
Christmas will be with my brother in Southern California, because nothing says “fresh start” like family chaos, palm trees, and tamales.
And then it gets really interesting: I’ll be road-tripping around the Southwest. Some family, some friends, some Airbnbs, and maybe a few “did I really just book this?” motels. How long? Who knows. Where am I going to plant roots? Also unknown. All I know is, I want to give myself at least a year to roam around the U.S., see the weird and wonderful, and maybe finally figure out what’s next.
I’ll be documenting it all here on the blog and on YouTube—every box packed, every item sold, every weird find in my garage (seriously, why do I own six empty 3 gallon water jugs). Consider this a mix of reality show, midlife crisis, and travelogue—with a GenX twist.
If you’ve ever wanted to sell it all, hit reset, and just go, this is your backstage pass to see how messy, hilarious, and hopefully liberating it can be.
Stay tuned—Day 1 starts the minute I get home from my current vacation in Wyoming. Until then, I’ll be mentally preparing myself to say goodbye to the clutter and hello to whatever comes next.
