Two Days Out: Ready or Not

8/29/2025

I’m two days away from starting my 90-day “Sell Everything” plan, and I have feelings. Big ones.

First, the plan. I’m going through the house with large clear bins,…one each for the big categories I want to keep, like personal care, clothes, shoes, camping, office, and hobbies. Only the things I use and love the most make it in. Everything else? Out! This feel less like ripping the bandaid off and more like slowly peeling it back, but progress will be made. I’ve heard the declutter muscle gets stronger the more you use it. So if I start with what I most want to keep, by the time I clear all of the other stuff out, I can go back to the “save” crates,…which most def be overflowing and reevaluate.

Three months sounds like a lot of time on paper, but if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that weeks vanish in the blink of an eye and poof, it’s time to take out the trash, mow the lawn, and give Stevie a bath.

When I got back from my Wyoming road trip last week, I walked into my hoouse and thought, “Wow…this is nice.” My recliner, my bed, even my familiar clutter. It felt, kinda cozy. But that moment was short-lived. The chores, the piles, “Why can’t I find my damn hand-held vacuum?!?”, and all those weird little memories stuck in objects starteed creeping back in. It’s like the walls whispered, “You can’t actually relax here, you’ve got too much crap”

And that’s why I know this project is the right move. Still, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. Comfortable is seductive3, but comfortable can also be a trap. And I Do Not want to wake up one day, surrounded by things I don’t even care about wondering why I never made the leap.

So, here I go. Two days out. A little sxared, a little excitd, and a lot ready to see what happens when I stop clinging to stuff and start seeking life.
